Like all agricultural activities, fish farming is extremely competitive and for this it is fundamental to add the economic and financial part”
The interview addresses fish farming and the use of simulations within zootechnical parameters – which underpin all technical decisions – to reach the best slaughter point and have assertive parameters when making decisions such as “reduce production time or work with fish size?”, or “work with fry or juveniles?”.
For Dr. Gustavo Luiz Naslausky Bozano, managing partner of Aqua Lagus Representação Agropecuária and PartnerFish Consultoria, in Tilapia farming, besides productivity, it is necessary to carefully analyze the economic and financial aspects, which are essential for success in the activity, as everything revolves around stocking density.

According to him, stocking density influences the final weight of the fish, the time the fish will spend in the water, animal survival, carcass yield at the slaughterhouse, and fish heterogeneity in the net tank. Therefore, it is so important to reach the equilibrium point between all these factors to improve yield.
In our conversation, integrated strategies for optimizing profitability in net-cage tilapia farming were also discussed, and complemented by the article authored by you.
