ESG as a growth strategy in a cooperative in RS
Santa Clara balances social and environmental responsibility with innovation
Founded in 1911 by Italian immigrants in Carlos Barbosa, in the Gaúcha highlands, Cooperativa Santa Clara is an example that it is possible to balance economic growth with social and environmental responsibility.
From a small cheese production company, the organization evolved into an agro-industrial complex with 4,800 associated families, 2,800 employees, three dairy plants, two slaughterhouses, 30 stores, an industrial kitchen, and integrated pork production, without losing sight of ESG principles.
The cooperative’s product catalog currently has over 400 items, supplying the South region of Brazil, and its sustainability policy encompasses everything from educational programs and member appreciation to clear environmental goals, renewable energy, and emission reduction technologies.
In this interview with Revista E&S, Santa Clara’s director, Alexandre Guerra, explains to presenter Soraia Fessel how the cooperative structures this commitment and what impacts it generates for its partners, collaborators, and community. Watch by clicking below!
