Sebrae Program increases region’s companies’ productivity by 25%
Project ALI has been offering technological extension scholarships for 15 years to specialists who help micro and small entrepreneurs improve their businesses
The Brazilian Micro and Small Business Support Service (Sebrae) has been developing, for 15 years, a project that promotes innovation in products and processes and in the management of micro and small businesses. This is the Local Innovation Agents Program (ALI), which has already offered more than 8,000 technological extension scholarships to local innovation agents and supported 300,000 small businesses.
ALI fellows are specialists who are responsible for contributing research and fieldwork to help micro and small entrepreneurs promote innovation, as well as increase revenue and productivity. They identify innovation opportunities and apply customized solutions to enhance the competitiveness and sustainability of businesses.
The program is divided into ALI Productivity (encompassing trade, industry, and services) and ALI Rural. The ALI agent’s monitoring is done through bi-weekly or monthly meetings, which can last from 4 months to 1 year.
In the Piracicaba region, from September 2022 to June 2023, 552 companies were assisted, 89.4% of which completed the program. As a result, there was an average increase of 25.5% in productivity and 12.7% in revenue for the completing companies. There are plenty of reasons for companies to want to enroll!
