Tools monitor risks and help expand rural credit
Disbursement of the 2023/24 Safra Plan was 13% higher than the previous one
Brazil has experienced an expansion in rural credit lines, stimulated by both public policies and private banks. The disbursement of the 2023/24 Safra Plan, for example, reached R$ 373.4 billion in the period from July/2023 to May/2024. An increase of 13% compared to the same period of the previous harvest. The 2024/2025 Safra Plan will allocate R$ 400.59 billion for financing.
Another stimulus that drove growth was the increase in investor support regarding credit concession risks, either through the offering of insurance or through specialized risk forecasting monitoring.
This last service is offered by companies such as Sigria, startup that was born with the help of WBGI, venture builder of agribusiness and partner of the Instituto Pecege. The company offers agribusiness investors products that help increase the risk management capacity of their operations, through indicators that bring them closer to the real conditions in the field. The following are offered:
- Climate data;
- Crop simulation models;
- Remote monitoring;
- Analysis of risk indicators.
“We can know how efficient he [the farmer] is based on our own artificial intelligence models and productive level generation,” stated Yury Duarte, CEO of Sigria, in this interview granted to presenter Soraia Fessel, for Revista Estratégias e Soluções (E&S), from Editora Pecege.
According to Duarte, Sigria has the capacity to serve all of Brazil. “Our first years in the company were spent building a technology that could serve the different regions of Brazil, the different cultivars planted in different types of soil and in different planting windows.” Want to know more about the subject?
