Indication for publication of articles derived from the TCCs

The articles published by the E&S Journal from the Course Conclusion Works aim to broaden the dissemination of the productions developed by specialization students, transforming the main results, contributions, and perspectives of the works into a more complete, structured, and suitable format for editorial publication.

This new format seeks to value the technical-scientific production of students and advisors, giving greater visibility to the studies carried out within the scope of the specialization courses. Furthermore, it contributes to the dissemination of applied knowledge in accessible, qualified language aligned with the scope of the E&S Magazine.

To this end, the teams from E&S Magazine and the Pecege Institute’s Technology department developed a tool that transforms selected TCCs into complete articles, presenting the main elements of the research, its results, analyses, conclusions, and possible practical contributions.

The articles generated in this format will have their own international publication identifier, the DOI (Digital Object Identifier). The DOI functions as a kind of “CPF” for the article: it is a unique and permanent number, internationally recognized, that exclusively identifies that publication. Thus, even if the website link changes, the DOI continues to be used to locate, cite, and track the article in academic databases and indexing systems.

Furthermore, the students and their respective advisors will be indicated as authors of the work, provided that both expressly authorize its publication.

How does the publication process work?

The TCCs that meet the criteria established by the editorial team of the Revista E&S may be selected for publication in article format. During the defense committee meeting, the student and advisor will receive the invitation to authorize or not the publication of the work.

Publication will only occur upon joint authorization of the student and the advisor. In case of acceptance by only one of the parties, the article will not proceed to publication. When there is acceptance from both, the student and the advisor will be indicated as authors of the article.

After the defense, the workflow will proceed according to the need or not for adjustments in the Term Paper:

  • When there is no requirement for revision, the version made available in the defense process will be used as the basis for the article’s elaboration and will proceed to editorial processing.
  • When revision is required, the article will be prepared from the revised version of the TCC, which must be submitted by the student within the established deadline. In this case, the work will only proceed to processing after receiving the revised version.

The estimated deadline for publication and DOI assignment is 30 to 90 days from the receipt of the final version of the term paper ready for publication. Thus:

  • in works without revision requirement, the deadline is counted from the availability of the version used in the defense process;
  • in works requiring revision, the deadline is counted from the receipt of the revised version.

The articles are processed and published gradually, according to the editorial flow of the E&S Journal. For this reason, it is not possible to provide a specific publication date within this period in advance.

The article generated from the term paper will not be sent to the student or the advisor for a new stage of review or approval before publication, as it is an adaptation of the academic work already presented and approved. Therefore, it is important that the version used as a basis corresponds to the final version of the term paper.

After publication, the E&S Magazine team will send the link to access the published article to the student via email.

DOI Assignment
Articles published in the E&S Journal receive a DOI (Digital Object Identifier) identifier. The DOI registration is carried out after the publication of the article and, due to the technical procedures for registration and validation with Crossref, its activation may occur after the article is made available on the Journal’s website. After the registration is completed, the DOI will be incorporated into the publication page. This period

In cases where a revision is requested, the article will be prepared based on the revised version submitted by the student within the established deadline.

The content will be adapted to the editorial format of the E&S Magazine, with adjustments in length, structure, and language. The article, therefore, will not be identical to the Term Paper, but will be produced based on the information, results, and references contained in the version used in the process.

After this adaptation, the article is not sent to the student or advisor for a new stage of review or approval before publication. For this reason, it is important that the version of the TCC used as a basis corresponds to the final and duly revised version of the work.
